OVERVIEW
The New Coomera Hospital will be a state-of-the-art healthcare facility designed to cater to the growing population of the northern Gold Coast.
Mainland Civil was awarded the early works package with varying stakeholders in conjunction with Multiplex.
Works included the Bulk Earthworks consisting of clearing and grubbing 12ha and topsoil strip circa of 15,000m3. The Bulk operation involved 368,000m3 of cut/fill of medium to very high strength insitu rock drill and blasting of 55000m3 of hard rock including processing for reuse on site. 166,000m3 of export excess cut material. The Bulk earthworks utilised large earthworks plant, 475 Komatsu Dozers, 2 x fleets of 60t Moxy dump trucks, 50-65t production excavators, 2 x 825 Compactors, and supported by smaller detailed orientated machinery such as 30-40t excavators, graders, 15-18t smooth/pad foot rollers and the like.
Mainland also installed 3,500m of stormwater internal reticulation network, which also included tie-in to existing stormwater networks, construction of 2 x bioretention basins and the installation of a large pre-cast stormwater detention tank including filters.
Finishing works included the construction of retaining walls, full road and pavement construction of internal roads, carparks and hardstands.
