OVERVIEW

The Centre for National Resilience Project is a purpose-built centre supporting Australia’s response to future emergencies of up to 500 self-contained rooms and full support facilities, such as logistics/kitchens etc.

Mainland Civil was engaged as the specialist civil contractor to undertake and deliver the civil works for the project in challenging ground conditions that consisted of ASS/PASS, unsuitable and asbestos containing soils.

Mainland Civil scope included:

• Demolition of existing structures
• Management, handling and monitoring of 41,000m3 of asbestos containing material
• Excavation and management of 115,000t of ASS/PASS material
• Ground improvement works including CFA piling
• Bulk Excavation of 200,000m3
• Hardstand and Piling Platforms
• Stormwater and Service Trenches
• Construction of pavements and roadworks
